Bradley Petersen

Bradley Petersen is one of the founders of Total Benchmark Solution, LLC. Bradley started his professional career as a quality research engineer at Ford Motor Company during the “Quality is Job One” campaign in the 1970s. He has taken that experience and applied Deming’s methods to the Healthcare Industry. Having become a thought leader for change and improvement, he has successfully designed and implemented innovative ways to effect positive changes in how healthcare in the United States is delivered and managed.

Bradley has developed and managed consulting practices focused on the planning, selection, design and implementation of healthcare information systems and the identification and realization of benefits through business re-engineering. His clients include hospitals, health systems, integrated delivery networks, physician practices, managed care organizations and major healthcare insurance organizations. In addition, Bradley has also consulted with suppliers and pharmaceutical companies.

These consulting practices have been market leaders and innovators. Having developed and implemented ground-breaking solutions in some of the most complex markets, he is recognized as having supported leading edge managed care environments of California, Minnesota and Florida. Over the past 30 years, he has had experience working with healthcare organizations in each of the fifty United States, the Australian Government Department of Health and Aging, and the National Health Service in the United Kingdom.

Bradley has been a healthcare industry pioneer in the development and implementation of decision support and benchmarking solutions. He was the lead developer in the development of the first Case Mix System in 1979. In 1980, he worked with Dr. Fetter of Yale on the first implementation of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs). In 1986 he led the effort to design, develop, market and launch the first financial and clinical benchmarking repository and solution in the industry to provide healthcare organizations with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement in resource utilization, cost, quality and outcomes. In 1988, he led the development of a comprehensive productivity and financial benchmarking solution. He has worked with over one thousand healthcare organizations in the use of benchmarking and decision support to improve cost, quality, satisfaction and outcome performance.
